Castle Brook provides long-term residential, and respite, care for up to 88 older people and people living with dementia across six separate households - on either the ground floor (easily accessible), middle floor or top floor (both accessible by a lift).
Each household has an open plan living area with a lounge, dining area and domestic-style kitchen. Residents and relatives can make their own snacks and drinks, or full meal. They can also get involved in the washing up and other housekeeping activities if they want to.
All rooms include ensuite facilities and there are also double apartments available for couples or relatives wanting to stay together, with the choice of a two-bedroom apartment or a bedroom, lounge and kitchenette, complete with private access and fenced gardens.
Castle Brook has a range of community facilities including a café, cinema, hair salon, shop, and traditional launderette. There's a whole host of clubs and recreation including gardening club, film matinees, table tennis or our side-by-side bike-for-two, where people can join in as much or as little as they like.
Everyone living at Castle Brook has access to the outdoors, so they can take in the view from their household's balcony; take a stroll along our walkways or ride along our cycle path on our bike-for-two; pick up a spade to help grow vegetables and flowers, or simply relax in our gardens.
As part of our activity provision, WCS Care employs dedicated Community Musicians who deliver one-to-one or group music-based activities. There's also a weekly choir and church service at the home. And our Memory Maker minibus provides regular, local trips for residents, including those who need to use a wheelchair. We invite relatives to join our trips so families can make new memories together.
The home uses a range of technology to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents including acoustic night-time monitoring and circadian lighting.
We can only provide a snapshot of life at Castle Brook here. If you'd like to find out more, please phone us to make an appointment or just drop by when you're in the area - the kettle's always on!
