Hargrave House

Hargrave House in Stansted supports elderly residents with a range of healthcare needs. Round the clock care is provided by our team of dedicated Care Assistants, overseen by our experienced Management Team.

Hargrave House is impressive by anyone’s standards, it is an original listed building dating back to the 1700s set in three acres of land. The house was acquired by Scimitar Care, refurbished and opened as a 58-bed Care Hotel in 2001. Situated in the charming village of Stansted Mountfichet just 10 minutes from junction 8 off the M11.

It is difficult to do the grandeur of Hargrave House justice with its wealth of original features. Some of you may recognise the high ceilings and wood panelling as they were featured on the TV series ‘Lovejoy’ a few years back. Within the main building is the old hall lounge, with a licensed bar, leading to none less than 3 separate lounges, the dining room and magnificent conservatory. The home is accessible to all with its two modern passenger lifts.

For our residents with dementia it is really helpful if family members are able to support care-staff in putting together a Memory Book. Memory Books are a brilliant aide-memoire for residents and helps them to share their life-stories with staff and fellow residents.
