Pavilion Court

Pavilion Court Care Home is situated in Cowgate, a pleasant suburb of Newcastle. It has shops and other facilities close by, and good public transport links.

We pride ourselves on being a warm and welcoming sort of establishment, as you’d expect in the north east! Visitors are greeted by staff in a pleasant and polite manner, and always offered refreshments.

Most our residents grew up in this area, as did our staff, and that gives us a huge advantage, both when residents first arrive and as we try to build close relationships with them. When you’re gaining people’s trust it’s that much easier if you can talk about people and places that you both know.

We have lovely gardens here at Pavilion Court. We have verandas on the first floor, a café area and two large lounges, so there’s plenty of opportunity for residents and staff to relax and have a natter. And when the residents are not doing that, we have a wide range of activities, such as a gardening club, baking, quizzes and knit n natter. We have mini ponies come in, and we also have a strong link with a cat and dog shelter, which regularly brings pets in. One of our residents is a handyman, so he’s sanding down and painting some chairs, and loving every minute!

We have a thriving residents’ forum, which relatives also get involved with.

We like to keep residents in touch with the local community, and several of them regularly go out to shop, have a coffee, or go to the community centre. We also have a lot of visits from school and church groups.
