This is my third week at Westgate Healthcare and already I have received a very warm welcome from everyone. But this nomination from Cara is a cherry on the top! This gesture showcases the kind and caring nature of the company. All of this gives me confidence that our residents receive a great quality of care in all of our homes and if it comes to that, I will be more than happy to hand over my loved ones to Westgate’s care.”
Gull Hassan, HR Manager at Westgate Healthcare
Gull joined our Westgate Healthcare family at the beginning of February and has spread nothing but joy, kindness and positivity since he started. He has hit the ground running in his new role as HR Manager and supported his team immensely. I nominated Gull as a way of saying a big thank you from all of us here at Westgate. We love having Gull as part of our team!”
Cara Zaleski, Marketing Manager at Westgate Healthcare
Iqra is part of our Senior Care team, she has only been with us since the 10th of January this year but has already made a big impact on the home. All our lovely residents have really taken to Iqra and already have a good friendship with her. She is really hard-working, working all hours to support the home. As a senior care assistant, she supports our care team with day to day tasks whilst also ensuring the residents' person-centred care plans are up to date and they are receiving their medication. She is a great asset to our team #teamlydgate ❤"
Kelly Dawson, Front of House Manager at Lydgate Lodge
Mohammed is a new Manager at Swan House, recently promoted from within Ambient. He took on this new role mid-pandemic and has done an outstanding job ensuring continuity and consistency of leadership in the most challenging of circumstances. He has risen to those challenges in this Senior Leadership role and is always willing to go the extra mile to make good outcomes exceptional ones.
Davina Sellick, Director of Sales, Marketing & Communications at Ambient Support
Yvonne Seddon (left) with her colleague Michelle Rowley (right)
Yvonne has been nominated by her colleagues as she always goes the extra mile for residents and colleagues in her role. Her Random Acts of Kindness include: Organising a Raffle available to Staff and Visitors to raise money = £250 in memory of a colleague who sadly passed away in 2021. The monies will be given to our colleague’s family. Everyone has experienced and suffered grief and loss at the home due to the unexpected loss of their friend and colleague. The positive action Yvonne has taken to coordinate a fundraiser including seeking prizes in the community in her own time has raised staff morale and is a selfless act of the utmost kindness· Yvonne and her colleagues at Lawton Manor have been making more plans to continue the fundraising in memory of their colleague· Yvonne contributes homemade knitted Easter Chicks and other items to help increase fundraising efforts in the home for the resident’s fund for days trips and other charitable causes.
Rachel Magenheimer, Customer Relationship Manager at Barchester Healthcare
Ron goes over and above every minute of every day to ensure our residents are well and happy. I nominated Ron because he is one of the loveliest people I have ever met. Ron completed his medical training in Greece but prefers to work with people in a more holistic way. He is a Reiki Master and also a Qi Gong Master. He volunteered both with Marie Curie and St Thomas’s Hospital, supporting people emotionally with their end of life wishes and care and guidance. Ron is very proud and grateful to be able to work in care. He has recently been promoted from Lifestyle Manager to Unit Manager, overseeing the care. He loves to support both residents’ and team members’ well-being. Ron likes to encourage residents to come into our home and live better, to take up opportunities offered by the care home and enjoy life. He feels he has achieved that."
Julie Chanel, Client Relations Manager at Elsyng House
If I can make someone happy for 10 minutes, I have done my job”
Ron Sinikliyski, Lifestyle Manager at Elsyng House
The reasons for nominating Sonia are as follows, Abbeycrest have suffered hugely over the last few months with a series of Covid outbreaks causing staff shortages in vital areas. Sonia has solidly kept the team together and kept morale high through exceptionally trying times, as a Home Manager the pressures and stresses that she’s put under are enormous. These range from residents’ families wanting to see loved ones, this is even harder when the desperate covid regulations between living in care homes and the outside world to juggling staff rots and keeping the staff happy when such short staffed. Sonia manages to get this done with style and a smile on her face even when she’s tired, irritated, and wanting to spend time with her dog."
George King, Customer Relationship Manager at Abbeycrest, Aria Care
Helen was nominated for the Barchester Lifetime Achievement Award last year and came a very close 2nd, we were all so willing her on to win - this will be a lovely surprise."
Alison Titheridge, Customer Relationship Manager at West Abbey, Barchester Healthcare

Residents light up when Maddi is in the room and her thoughtful touches and her fun and enthusiasm lift everyone’s days. Maddi dressed in an inflatable Santa suit at Christmas which was priceless. She also visits other homes in our group, most recently The Lawns, Worcestershire for a keep fit session and a full on pamper session with facials, foot spa, massages and not forgetting Prosecco and fruit smoothie bar."
Liz Patient, Marketing Manager at Heritage Healthcare
We would like to thank not only our winners, but all care staff for their hard work and dedication to the care sector. You're all winners in our eyes!
