Garswood House

Garswood House supports individuals with residential, dementia, respite or end of life care needs. Our single-storey 40-bed purpose-built home is based on the outskirts of Ashton-in-Makerfield town centre and includes a 10 bed specialist household for older people living with dementia. Many of our residents move here from the local community.

We encourage residents to make full use of shared areas at Garswood House including lounges, the dining room and outdoor areas. We have beautiful gardens with paved areas and seating for residents to sit and relax in. There is also a large lawn surrounded by trees and bushes and raised flower beds where residents can enjoy a spot of gardening.

Residents are also encouraged to personalise their bedrooms to their heart's content. It is important that their bedrooms are a space where they feel fully settled and comfortable. We have 30 residential and 10 specialist dementia beds of varying sizes and with a choice of views. Some rooms have their own en-suite facilities and larger bedrooms can be adapted to suit a couple should they wish to share a room.

Our Activities Coordinator organises a regular activities schedule for our residents. Favourites include reading groups, day trips, flower arranging, hand massages, musical movement, movie afternoons and visits from entertainers.
