Shire Hall is located just a short walk from Cardiff Bay, with views of the Millennium Stadium, at Shire Hall, our 98-bedroom care home, we provide the highest standards of residential, nursing and dementia care, our compassionate, relationship-centred approach to care is designed to promote active and independent living for all residents.

We aim to make life at Shire Hall a home-from-home for residents. We actively encourage and support them to carry on enjoying the familiar everyday routines and hobbies they are used to, be it seeing a favourite film in the cinema, pottering in the garden or relaxing in our therapy room. Our ‘Farmhouse Kitchen’ offers a place for residents to relax and socialise over a fresh coffee. It also encourages independence by allowing residents to bake or prepare food with support from our highly trained care team.

We also have a busy activities schedule, which ranges from fine dining evenings and arts and crafts to gardening groups and trips out with the support of the Oomph! minibus. We even have our own darts team – The Shire Hall Shufflers’ who compete with other care homes in the area.

Each of our rooms has its own telephone and TV point and residents can bring some of their own furniture to make their environment more familiar and reassuring if they wish to.

To further aid the settling in process at our care home in Cardiff, we ask each resident, with the help of their family, to fill out an ‘About Me’ book so we can really get to know them, how they like to be addressed, their likes and dislikes, any hobbies or interests they might have, their favourite foods, what music they like to listen to, and anything else that will help us to provide better care and support. We support residents, and their loved ones, to maintain their relationships and keep their close connection via various digital platforms such as iPads and Facebook Portal devices, which allow loved ones to see photos, send messages and share videos. This means you can still communicate with residents no matter how far away you may be.
