Dene Park House

Dene Park Care Home is situated in South Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, close to the Metro Centre.

Visitors to our Home are always greeted with a smile, and offered a cup of tea or coffee, no matter what their visit is about. We want them to get a good first impression, to make them feel comfortable, particularly if they are looking for a Care Home for their loved ones, which is often a traumatic time for a family. In these cases we take them round the Home and introduce them to our Carers, the residents and, whenever possible, their families.

Our residents are very active. We have lots of things going on, inside and outside of the Home. We recently had a trip to the famous Beamish outdoor museum, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We have arts and craft, a knitting club, a resident forum. A local dance class comes in, as well as a theatre group who perform pantomimes. We have regular visits from singers, and residents often join in. We’re next door to a very nice pub, the Victory, which is used regularly by some of our residents. We also have our own bar – one gentleman uses it every day when he has a whiskey with his son.

Residents get involved in the running of the Home. We have a lady who likes to lay the tables for meals, and a gentleman who loves to hoover. It’s their home, after all!

We’ve started having Pamper Days for ladies, when they can ‘glam up’, and we have a similar thing for the men.
